I do not come from a family of rhubarb eaters, but I've come to love the slight tartness it lends to sweet dishes. I like to make it into pies and crisps, or simply roast it with a bit of sugar and spoon it over vanilla ice cream. But my favorite way to use rhubarb is in...

Fluffy & Sweet Snacking Bread

This fluffy and sweet snacking bread was inspired by a traditional recipe for Portuguese Sweet Bread, as well as my reading of Brandon Sanderson's 'The Way of Kings.'

We all have a 'go to' recipe that we pull out of our recipe books when someone asks us to bring a dessert for dinner - and the decadent homemade pastry you see here is mine. It's good. Really good. In fact, I only make it when I have a bunch of people to share it with because...

Spiral Coffee Cake with Nuts and Orange Marmalade (It’s a Giant Cinnamon Roll, Really)

It's hard to describe the sheer awesomeness of this coffee cake, with its beautiful spirals and layers of brown sugar, pecans, walnuts and orange marmalade. But for you, I will try. Imagine the aroma of warm sugar and nuts, think about the sensation of fresh, fluffy bread melting...

Summer Squash & Cheddar Biscuits

Yesterday we had what I would consider the perfect summer meal: pasta with sun gold tomatoes, roasted summer squash and summer squash biscuits. Nothing fancy, but certainly something special since so much of it came from our garden.

I realize I've been sharing a lot of zucchini recipes lately but there are two very good reasons: firstly, I love zucchini. And secondly, it's everywhere!

Zucchini Cornbread & Foggy Day Chili

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for Spring to arrive. Maybe that's why I couldn't resist buying zucchini at the market. It made me think about the warmth to come, about planting seedlings in the ground and then harvesting the fruits of our labor on a summer afternoon.

I love the traditional pumpkin 'quick' bread but I wanted to create a lighter alternative to those dense, heavily spiced loaves. This yeasted version is sweetened with light brown sugar and spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. Oh and did I mention that it has chocolate?
