We all learned songs when we were children but, at least for me, only some of them stuck in my head until adulthood. Skinnamarink was one of them for sure. Another one? “My Name is Stegosaurus.” Does anyone else remember singing this song in kindergarten? I think my Nana has a tape of me singing it when I was 4 or 5 years old.
Well the munchkin has developed a fascination with dinosaurs lately so I decided it was time to teach him the Stegosaurus song. With a simple melody and cute lyrics, this song teaches children about the anatomy of the Stegosaurus. My son took to it as quickly as I did when I was a child and tries to sing this song whenever his Schleich Stegosaurus comes out to play. It’s a little surreal for me, but in the best of ways. :)

I really thought I’d made this song up when I was a kid! My kindergarten class did this one, and a few other dinosaur-themed songs. I don’t remember the words to those, but I know there was one about a T-Rex and one about a Pterodactyl.

Finally! My cassette tape of this was destroyed a few years ago and I could only teach it from memory….I now have the music to pass on to the new teacher. Some traditions should not die!!! My Name Is Stegasaurus ….
