B. Toys is without a doubt one of our favorite toy companies. I’ve mentioned my love for their creative products before and their toys are featured throughout the Sweet Happy Life Amazon store. There’s a reason for this: their toys are fun, durable and they make my little boy smile.
One of their newest toys is the “Woofer” guitar, which gets its name both from a kind of speaker and its adorable puppy shape. The munchkin and I saw it at Barnes & Noble a couple months ago and he was immediately interested in it. He had, after all, just learned how to “do air guitar” from my husband and now here was a cool looking blue guitar in just his size! We didn’t get it, but then the fates smiled on us and not long afterwards B. Toys asked if we’d be interested in reviewing the Woofer. Would we?! Oh. yes.
As you can see from the photos, my son loves his Woofer. It’s not a “real guitar” but it’s close enough for him to feel super cool playing with it. In addition to four thick strings that play music when strummed, the Woofer also has 8 musical buttons, a “Whammy Bone” that lets the munchkin make up his own songs, a volume knob and 20 sing-along songs. It also has 3 modes of play which include acoustic guitar, electric guitar and “hound dog” sounds. The hound dog mode plays the same chords and songs as the other modes, except with barks and howls instead of guitar sounds. I know that sounds potentially annoying, but I was happy to discover that the hound-dog mode doesn’t drive me crazy even though it’s my son’s favorite. He thinks it’s funny to hear a dog yapping out a song and sometimes gives our dog a “Why don’t you do that?” look.
It’s one thing to read about how the Woofer works and another thing to see it. So I thought I’d put a short (nothing fancy) video together showing the munchkin playing with the guitar. This is either the second or third time he used it, I can’t remember. But as you can see all the features are very easy to use.
In addition to the cool buttons and sounds, the Woofer also has a guitar strap that allows kids to wear it like a real guitar. This strap has a velcro release, so you can adjust the strap or quickly remove the guitar if need be. Since the munchkin is barely 2-years-old we only let him play with the guitar supervised for now – he hasn’t quite figured out how to get in and out of it by himself yet. ;)
Bottom line: This is a great toy that’s sure to get many years of use. I can definitely see it growing with the munchkin.
All that said, do you want to win one of these guitars?! I know you do!
